Chakra Series, Part VII: Crown Chakra

Part VII: Crown

Crown at a glance

  • Archetypal Element: Thought

  • Color: Violet

  • Purposes: Understanding

  • Right: To know and to learn

The seventh and final chakra is about universal identity: the one we all share simply by being. While we each have our unique self-identity, we are ultimately all part of the same oneness—both divine and mortal. The Crown chakra is associated with a deepened understanding of this dance most often via spirituality, religion, and evaluating the belief systems that shape our very perception (and thus our self-identity!)

This multi-layered floral headpiece is a spin on a traditional flower crown. Made from purple Statice, Viburnum Tinus, and Hyacinth, the tiny pieces were thoughtfully placed into their positions to summon the divinity within. The “beads” of the Viburnum were strung onto individual pieces of wire, then twisted into a double helix, braid-like structures. The rounded shapes above and below the main headband were deliberately meant to connect as a nod to eternity. Yummy smelling Hyacinth florets add softness to the otherwise rigid structure.

There is freedom and peace when we remember to zoom out and embrace the simple fact that we are whole—nothing needs to be outsourced.

Conclusion

This seven-part series was an exercise of patience and will. Each arrangement was made with care and consideration after reflecting on the potent words of Anodea Judith. Eastern Body, Western Mind came into my life at the perfect time – between two seismic relational shifts – and served as a helpful guide in the lifelong journey of deepening the understanding of self. For those who have followed along, thank you for your time and attention!
