Part II: Sacral

Sacral Chakra at a glance

  • Archetypal Element: Water

  • Color: Orange

  • Purpose: Movement and connection

  • Right: To feel and have pleasure

The second chakra is the center of sensation and feeling, emotion and pleasure, movement and change. Orchids, to me, have such sex appeal that I couldn’t help but use a Cymbidium for the chakra associated with integrated, healthy sexuality. Two types of Cosmos, Chocolate and Sulphur, dance alongside the attention-demanding orchid, playing off its dark center and orange undertones. Their curves and bends, in combination with the Miscanthus grass, represent the chakra’s purpose: movement. Date palms spill out of the clear vase for texture.

“Without passion and pleasure, our lives blur into senseless sameness, our feelings dulled behind the daily subroutines of expected behavior.” (p. 106) As the Cosmos faded, I felt there was an emptiness to the arrangement and like the grasses in v1 were too safe. The wildness of version 2 is a full embrace of change and an effort to buck any expected sameness!

Confident in our Root to support us, may we all welcome change and savor moments of passion and pleasure in our everyday along the way.
